Hi,

is anybody (preferably in Europe, ideally in Germany - or anywhere else in the world) still selling huge veroboards?
Like, 40cm x 30cm ?
Looking for the type with 2.54mm hole spacing and copper pads (no strips), single sided.

Any hints welcome,

JH.

A few years ago Farnell had if I remember right. They still have quite large ones:
160x233mm 305-7148, 25eur
580x100mm 414-7935, 24eur

Both of them too small

First one is double Euro format; second one is just a thin strip.
I used to glue two of the latter together to get 580x200, but that's not really a good solution.

Please don't ask things like that right when I'm transferring pics from my camera....

But no, sorry, I don't know of a source for something like 40*30 either...

Looks like JH must be finally getting around to that Matrix-12 clone

I know you're looking in Europe, but I checked a few places here in the US and found nothing near that size. Hope you can locate a source (and stock up).

Nah ... I'm not a fan of the Matrix 12.

The thing that's on my mind right now is no matrix, but it has a matrix.
Though the matrix part may be the first thing I'd omit.

The number of the beast is 5000 and it dwells on fourty-four 8-pole filters ...

We have snow here right now!

Idea 1: Sending a veroboard-file to a boardhouse. Costs about 90€.

Idea 2: If you have a chance to get large pcbs and etch large pcbs at home I could try to drill the 4602 holes with a cnc before etching.

We had snow falling on Wednesday and Thursday but it didn't settle, very cold as well but today we had sunshine and I cut our grass for the first time this year - now it will be easier to clear up after the dog!

I can't imagine what you are building with that number of filters - the mother of all phasers perhaps?

At the moment I'm just thinking, and re-reading documents I've collected. So who knows what comes out of it.

My thoughts are circling around vocoders (again) lately.
I have reverse engineered pretty much of what I wanted to know about the EMS 3000 from a bunch of digital photos and schematics without component values. And from getting familiar with Tim Orr's style on the way, I _think_ I can make an educated guess on how the big one (EMS 5000) has been designed. I adopted the style I've found in the 3000 to the specifications of the 5000 in simulation, and got an exact match with other parameters that describe the 5000.
I haven't decided yet if I'll really go for a 22-band design a la EMS 5000. But it's nice to have a clue about the 3rd of the 3 big ones (after Synton, Sennheiser) now.

No coincidence! I wanted to indicate the size so added a CD for reference. So I took the CD that's rarely outside my CD-player these days. Saw them here in town last Monday. Friendly people, great music. Curious to the rest of their stuff!

Back to Vero again :thumb:
What ever happened to Tim Orr? I think he designed the ETI vocoder.
I'd love to talk to this man.
(He designed the EMS vocoders, and then the ETI vocoder, AFAIK.)

I bought the RIMU software last night (after browsing thru this forum).
Guess huge boards need to be PCBs nowadays.

Back to OT again  , next Monday we have Erdmann 3000 here in town, you'll probably know them as well then.

Have just heard one song, but I guess we'll need to be going. You know more or have seen them ?

Bye,

Peter
