That's interesting news. Since this would be the first diode-based circuit here I'm not knowledgeable/critical/... so would gladly follow along any action in a specific direction.

Since that Lorlin-economy-version I was rambling about here before will have to wait till my retirement, and luckily that's still a long while away.

For preservations sake, I went and duplicated Igors page. With a huge disclaimer of course and a little bit of clean up.

Feel free to view mine if his geocities site has been overloaded.

If anyone has a problem with me hosting this, be sure to let me know.

Thanks

I apologize - instead of doing some dishes I chose for staying at the machine generating silly postings :?

OK, thanks again for providing that info. And while at it I happened to found some good g-ssl info (that I hadn't seen yet) as well :thumb:

Thanks !

Peter

Any luck Svart? It would be great to see this project go somewhere!!

Has anyone compared a 2254 witha 2264? I have found the 2264 to be the best sounding Neve compressor. I would be onboard with the circuit boards as I have been collecting parts for this, I have all the iron & 440's for 4 units!

I was trying to track the Igor's layout and do some schemo, but if you done it already will you share that with us? So we can do multiple versions of PCB layout...

Besides polite bump, can someone point me to the sheets about threshold,attack,recovery....blah,blah used in the 2254 33609?

I take it you have seen the schematics and front panel controls for the 2254 and 32254 at Dan Alexanders site

OK, there is the schemo of 2254 I have that for the long time, but info about some SW are missing. There must be some circuit with SW3/SW9

This one?

That board looks great Igor.
It is sad that it needs so many transformers. It is the main reason I'm hesitating to start this project.

I recall that Rafa had plans to attack this design with OEPs. No idea about his progress.

I'm hesitating myself: when going for it why not do it well, so since there's effort & time put in, why not spend the money as well (route #1).

On the other hand, I guess a few cut corners could still result in a respectable diode-compressor; I could live with the fact that it's not exactly a 2254/33609-clone then.
For route #2 one could think for instance of:
* 'cheaper' TXs (for instance another gain-make-up amp not requiring a gapped TX),
* easier switches (IIRIC all those 24-position switches are only justified for one occasion, where it's stopped at 16 positions. For all others 12-position switches seem to be enough).

Bye,

Peter
