Our live sound guys moaning he can't see in dark halls and needs a mixer light. I know you can buy the rackmount ones with a couple of gooseneck mounted lamps, but i was wondering if it was possible to use one of the Laptop USB mounted flexi lights and mount it on an XLR plug with some sort of dropping resistor and run it from the 48V phantom power. I think the lamp is a white led so do you think the phantom power would deliver enough current to drive it? Anyone any ideas about what voltage is available at a computer usb port and does a white led take more current than a standard led?
Another silly brainstorm!

USB is 5v around 500ma. use ohms law to figure your resistor value you'll need to drop to get what you need.
