Hi there!

I've been reading over about a thousand posts, getting extremely inspired by whats going on in this forum. I'm relatively in experienced but I suppose everyone is at some point! Taking things slow i'm going to start with reamp box!

I was originally looking for a transformer for the NYDave Reamp box but couldn't find a shop to sell me on in the UK.

Now I am looking at the Jensen Schematic and the closed transformer i can find is from Farnell:

If some one could take a minute to point me in the right direction it would be very much appreciated.

I don't think that is a good choice. Try this one instead:

It has to be used reversed (think secondaries as primaries). Connect "primaries" in series and "secondaries"  parallel, or both in series for hotter output.

Regarding Edcors in Europe search this forum:

Cool cheers! I wasn't planning on mounting it to a PCB, how would I go about mounting this inside a box? Also the pins look tiny, is it possible to solder wires directly onto the transformer?

Cheers,
Dave

Hi All,

Finished the reamp last night, going to test it along side the actual reamp today, If anyone is interested I can post some samples or what not.

One question, If my project revolves around grounding to the case, how would i go about grounding if the case is non conductive?

Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave, yes, I'm curious for the results !

Regarding your question, you could use aluminium tape inside the case for proper shielding. I usually put this inside guitars as well.

Another question, which tranny did you use in the end ?

I used the OEP A262A7E:

http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?CMP=i-ddd7-00001003&sku=1689035

I have a .pdf of some screenshots of a spectrum analysis test and the .wav files that I used. I can upload these to my website if you wish? Could have it up by the weekend.

I have just had a guy at work make a PCB for it, in time I will create a PCB version and repeat the same tests.

Cheers,
Dave

Hmm, if it works well, then it should be okay, but..

that's quite a different transformer than the 10k:600 as used in the NYD design.  I have soldered an identical one with a 600:600 sowter. It works well, I just don't know if it's just as good as a 10k:600 (especially regarding "tone"!)

On a sidenote, I just bought the article of Rossi's reamp design. I'm going to build that one too. (will cost about 30 euro total to build one).

Is that article that one in German??
I bought that one, but unfortunately I don't know German

If you need a bit of explanation about the text how to build one, pm me. I can't tell it here, it wouldn't be fair to Rossi.

Thanks a lot for your help mate, I think I can get there just by looking at the photos, anyway if I have any doubts I will contact you.

I was just sad because, the article itself seems quite interesting, but I will ask to someone who speaks German to translate it for me.

thanks for being so king

hey wordave, just checked your website. I used to be studio manager too, few years ago!  :)
who made the PCBs? Jack?  :)

nice project. keep up!

I'm looking into building a reamp box.
Either Jensen schemo, or NYDave.

But, I'm confused about what tranny to use -Farnell is my prefered supplier.
OEP will be good enough for me I guess.

So, 600:150 ? or 600:600 ?
That's quite different from the schemo. So, is it working well?

Wouldn't something like this:
http://uk.farnell.com/oep-oxford-electrical-products/e187b/transformer-audio-3-6-1-1/dp/1172420
be better?
Ah.. frequency rang look to bad..

I've build the Jensen version with an OEP Z3003 transformer (10K - 10K).
Not available at Farnell but you can buy them at Canford.
Are you happy with the sound of it?
