Is anyone aware, historically or electronically, why the LA2A is laid out the way it is? It is 3 rack spaces with a very short depth. All of the tubes and transformers mounted on the back, but with easy front side access to the internals. I would think that rack real estate could be saved very easily by extending the depth of the rack case. I guess this probably applies to EQP1As as well.
I imagine the transformer mounting on the outside has to do with RF and magenetic shielding reasons.
