I'm using a 2,9mm blue led in one of my clones.
The recomended resistor should be 1.1K for a 24 dc input.
But I don't like the super bright result of it.
Can I simply raise the R value ?

another one .
I have a 24 AC led panel indicator red, 8mm.
how can I also lower the brightness ?

To lower the brightness, you make the series resistor larger in value... so if you change the resistor to 2.2k it will not be as bright.

Check out my LED-resistor calculator at http://www.muzique.com/schem/led.htm

LEDs with series resistor?
Technology of year 1980.
It sounds like electric heating.
Some special ICs for coulomb - pump LED management
can be smaller tham resistor and with less power consumption
and heat generation.
To integrate it onto LED chip and then make 0,1 mA/24 V LEDs ?
Why no one producer do it yet ?

Yes, Why use LEDS on 24 V. Use bulbs. They are cheeper
and much efficient at this conditions.

Sorry, I disagree. LEDs consume less power, and don't get burn out and are prettier looking than bulbs.

All you need is a series resistor. No need for LED pump management that's surface mounted or whatever.

Oh, please.....

Because no consumer wants to pay 10 dollars/euros/pesos/yen/bolivars for something that an LED and a resistor will do for 10 cents?

Peace,
Al.
