HI Everyone,

here is a nice cheap idea for mounting the M49/M50.

Take a normal cheap mic mount:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mic-Microphone-Shock-Mount-Universal-Adjustable-Clip-Holder-Studio-Recording-New-/190901646811?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_EquipmentStands_SM&var=490185539777&hash=item2c729ff5db

take out the middle section, then take off the four screws and clips.

wrap some electrical tape round the hoop and put back on the screws and clips the other way.

wrap some electrical tape round the front and back clips so they dont rub.

then put back on the elastic pieces, start with the front to back one and clip it in nice and tight, then put in the side one, over the top of the other one.

carefully put in the mic and clip the elastic over the of the body at the sides, then clip over the other clip so it is clip in all the way round.

The mic can now safely be used upside down or in any direction. :)

regards

Spence.

Hi Hellfire,

kinda same difference then as there is a fair bit of play in the way this works out but its not intended to be a shock mount, just a cheap way of getting it in the right position so you can get recording. not bad i feel for about a fiver!!! :)

regards

Spence.

No question about it. It does the job it is intended for. My comments were strictly for clarification. If you can internally shockmount the capsule and tube, the mount you've created will work well (as you already know).
