maximum capacitance for solid state power sections

I'm gonna guess that's at least partially due to double the mains voltage resulting in half the current (peak?).

Actually I don't understand the reasoning behind this choice, because an NTC with an adequate value could be used for european voltage.
I have added them to several of my amps.

One could argue that in fact, the inrush current peak would be that much greater what with double the voltage, but then again there's also double the primary winding resistance and 4x the impedance of the transformer... But i'm just speculating, since we can't pick the brains of the people involved in that design.
