Hello
I hope some of you can help me out.
I bought two Golden age Project Tc1 ( GAP TC1) tube Microphones really cheap.
I read on gearslutz that they are rebranded Mics like "Apex 460" but with highpass and -10 db pad.
One of the mics doesn't work and i cant ask the seller.
I can solder, i have a multimeter and make kits but I have no understanding of electronics.
1. the tube is working in other applications and is lit when I power on the mic
2. its not the cord or the psu
3. i cant see anything obvious burnt or broken when I open the microphone
4. the capsule and the wires to and from the capsule looks fine
6. theres no sound or hum anytime but a very light "click" when I turn the pad and the highpass filter on and of.
and It doesn't matter if the mic is in cadio, figure 8 etc..
7. I haven't checked the transformer
My questions is:
a. If i take the capsule from the faulty mic
and put it in the ok microphone and it works, how should I proceed
in trying to find the issue.
B . I have a spare Oktava 219. I would like to take the capsule from that and put it in
one of the golden age mics to try it out. Maybe its a better capsule?
its only a cardiod capsule. What should I be aware of while doing that, I dont want to break it ?
