Mofet76 1176 Rev F compressor. Closed!!!!!

Your boards look great! But why would you build a later model 1176 when the Rev D and A are available? They have the hyper output with the hot and nice sounding 3053? I don't think the "F" has the Class A always on and hot output. Correct me if I am wrong. I am just an amateur experimenter.

Hey John,
  You are quite right. The F uses a class AB push pull configuration. Although, the class AB can supply the same amount of output with less power and less distortion. I started designing the F about the same time Mnats was doing his. He beat me to it obviously. At the time there was his A and D boards and his version of the G1176. The G1176 is a combination of F thru K revisions and also using a lot of replacement components. Commercially, all you could get is UA's and Purple's C/D/E reissues. I wanted to do something different. I wanted a clean 1176 but I also wanted to have a darker(Neve) overtone to it at the same time. I wanted to have switchable output transformers. I like the idea of the F and the AB output cause you can really use any transformer you like. I think the F's are more forgiving when trying to design stuff around them. Really I love the way they sound. Some people love the A's, some the C's and I know a lot of people who Love the even Later IC based silver faces. I don't think any of them sound bad and one better then the other, I think they all sound great and have their own unique character.

Well I believe that Casrec. They all do sound really good. Switchable trannies on the fly would be a nice button. And I have used the original ones that were AB. And I was not complaining. I haven't had experience with the IC ones tho. But heard good things about them as well. I guess I would have to try one.

And true all ya got is Purple and UA. I haven't tried a newer UA but the Purple rocks! Good idea on the variation.

Cool! I will email a link to the easy buy on mouser and also send you a BOM within the week. You will also get a hard copy of the BOM and wiring instructions with the Board and transformers. I will be ordering on Monday and Edcor says I should have them on or before December 7. Thanks again!
