Has anyone here built a U47 clone in an Equinox EQU47 body, using a UF14 or EF14 vacuum tube?  If so, how did you mount the tube? I find that my tube holder comes too close to the vertical struts to make room for an elastic suspension inside the mic body.

Perhaps someone else has solved this problem.

Dunno about the distance between the rails in the equinoxe mic body, but it looks like they are a bit closer than in an original, so maybe there's enough room to fit the rubber band outside in order to spare a millimeter or two?

Also, you can file the tube holder down to a smaller diameter. Once you're done machining the bakellite, let it dry completely under a bulb and apply a couple layers of lacquer. You need to do this cause otherwise, the bakelite will act as a sponge and the moisture will ruin its isolation...
