whell last 1 year I have problem with my Rode classic
its crackeling and making noises..I replaced tube and it was same as before..so I read a lot about capsules....
It looks like many ppl hade problem with rode classic capsule!!!!

SO!!

I decided to send it to RODE..BUT heh no time ...mostly durring that time I was using other good mics...like U87i, SM 69fet, NTV, 414 EB....

finally I decided few days ago to send rode and friend who had rode problem told me about his classic...he used peluso capsule!!! and he told me to use NEUMANN if I have..

ofcourse I have few KK67!!

so I decide to play with capsules!!

and Im totally in love with my new RODE aka Neumann mic!!!!
KK 67 capsule in classic is one of best combinations I heard ... all I can say to classic owners.. DO IT!!!!!
also I replaced original tube with Raytheon 6072 and love it!!

everything fits perfect!!!!!!

and sounds awesome

Well done rogina!
Sounds like good combination! Can you post some audiosamples, please? :)

Is there a place where I can buy Neumann capsules only?

thanks

This mod sounds interesting.

I should add that I have had the same problem before and sent the mic back to Rode. ther replaced Capsule, Tube and a part of the power supply all free of charge.

they are an awsome company.

PS: Unlike Monster Cables

The schematic I saw of the classic did not have any high frequency correction IIRC  I will look for the link.  I have a real 67/87 capsule and I find the high end harsh without correction when I install it in microphone builds with out correction.  Now this is a taste issue.  If you test a flat microphone amp with a 67 capsule keep in mind male voice is not a good test,  Check it with stuff in the higher frequencies range.

Is the stock capsule a 67 type with the clear edge? if so search for capsule cleaning that is a common issue with capsule like this with dirt and moisture at the edge leaking off the charge on the capsule.

So, four years later... still like the sound of your Neumannized Classic? (Røde Classic can be found for good prices nowadays.)
