Been searching everywhere and asked a bunch of places, would be over the moon if someone could point me in the right direction with this.
My MTR90 MKII got a wear pattern too deep and too uneven for comfort and noticed more shedding than normal recently. Heard about rotating the lifters and Athan Rollers mentioned the same thing on their website, but can't figure out how its done. It has the lifter sleeves from Athan which was installed by my tech in 2019 when I got the machine. Obviously he went through the mechanical setup on the same occasion and its been pretty trouble free in general despite I put the beast through a lot of work.
Hoped the things on the top were allen screws but not quite sure.? Take a look at the picture to see what I mean. Could be that I'm an idiot who lost the ONE allen key that fits, but it doesn't look like an allen screw.
Anywhere screw from the inside?
Can't really find anything in the manual and Athan havn't answered my mail.
Before anyone warns me that this happened for a reason and I need a full mechanical alignment before doing any work to prevent uneven headwear: found the reason and adressed it. Left tension roller was looser. Just needed to tighten a screw and all was good. However it ran for a while like that which is why the wear pattern looks so dodgy.
I'm half decent with a soldering station, but the mechanical aspects of the Otari I prefer leaving to someone more qualified. But if this is an easy fix I'd really love to get it sorted before I clock in more hours on precious master tapes.
