Is there a way to convert a VU meter to display/work as peak level?

I have some VU meters with an internal impedance of 650 ohms
I have some Peak Level meters with an internal impedance of 1000 ohms

they both use a p-55 housing,
however when hooked up to the isa 428,
the VU has a voltage drop of around -5.5VDC (pegs hard to the left)
and the Peak Level has a voltage drop of -0.05VDC (exactly where it needs to be)

I figured it out,
Basically what i did was rewire and not use the board with a resistor in place, I'm going green to negative, and red to positive, I'll try to post up pictures. i don't believe its the most accurate but it might be pretty close.
