[The Kid]

Aside from Long Gone Geek, my favorite Procol song is Whiskey Train.  Used to play it in one of my first bands.  It's a little something for the drummer, lol, not to mention the great guitar riffs.  We used an old empty bottle of JD.  I always thought it'd be a great song to cover and play live.  I was surprised at the time that nobody had covered it already.  Turns out, a few did, I must have missed it!

That's cool about the Selmer; I  haven't had the pleasure of even seeing one of those.  Closest I've got is '65 Vibrolux.  I just ordered some new speakers for it, hopefully get it closer to original.  Back in the 90s I made the mistake of getting Fender stock speakers.  TOTALLY wrecked that amp, lol.  I need to go through the whole thing, anyway. 

I have seen that Floyd vid, classic!  Speaking of "favorite bands that sound awful". . . .Lol,  just kidding.  But definitely a very different band compared to later. 

Years ago, I bought Uncut magazine, specifically 'cuz they included a cd sampler of 60's acid rock bands in that particular issue.  Syd has one song on it, Octopus.  I noticed in the u tube playlist, though, it says "this video not avail."  Anyway, pretty good album overall.

Some classic Baker on T.U.S.A. (Sunrise on the Sufferbus). Blue Garden, Kill the King, Candy Girl, reminds me of some good times...

I remember we covered one of their songs in a battle of the bands competition and the judges really got into us for the lyrics (Ants in the Kitchen). Fair enough I suppose.

I think I need to find copies of those couple of albums I used to really enjoy.

I saw Ginge playing live at a local jazz festival some years back ,awesome stuff, There was one moment during the concert where his temper nearly flared , he had already taken the stage and was speaking to the crowd when an announcement for the audience to take their seats came over house pa ,he started grinding his teeth and turned bright red ,looked like he was about to explode ,but someone in the audience made a funny joke and luckily he simmered down again as fast as he got angry.

Very prolific Mr Grohl ,Id bet he's in ten other bands I never heard the name of too , the lack of ego about him is pretty amazing for a man of his stature musically, Seems to have given a leg up to dozens of bands along the way too. Musical genious and all round good old skin ,that truely is a rare combo.

All I'm gonna say about politics is maybe there wouldn't be as many problems right now in the world if people just shut there big yappers and listen to some great music!!   

Like I mentioned before, there's bound to be discussions that come up from all this, so I don't think it's bad overall, on the other hand, it's not my topic post.  I do appreciate yours/others insights on stuff, it's great to have views from outside our own little world(s).

If anybody ever doubts where modern music (pop, rock, metal, whatever), that was pretty much ground zero!  Starting down south,  (well, actually, Africa, then down south), up to Chicago, over to England, and then back here again.  There's another amazing pbs show (I watch a lot of pbs, lol) I saw years ago about the story of the blues, here's the trailer:

I don't know, I don't get rap at all, (there's a few here and there) but when I listen to Robert Johnson, or any body from back then, I actually "feel" the music from head to toe, just something about it.  That's what got me really wanting to play guitar in the first place.  And also why I wanted to throw it out a few times, lol, after listening to near impossible playing from all those guys/gals.  I've seen Rory Block in concert live 3 times, and I remember one time, I actually got shivers down my spine from the way she was playing that acoustic.  From what I understand, she actually learned at the feet of the masters, when she went off to find Mississippi John Hurt, Reverend Gary Davis, and Son House.

The BB one with Country picker dude was awesome too ,Its funny in a way isnt  it country right alongside the blues ,make me think in one way country evolved as a kind of white mans blues ,but with more of a european Folk type inlfuence behind it

Fairly punky/pub rock kinda sound on the guitars,more happy go lucky in the lyrics dept from Noddy though. Cheerfull Anthemic rock , the kinda tunes that resonate around football stadiums when the crowd catches onto them .
