I realize the series connection may have the benefit of some cancellation of unwanted sources when you manage to position them that the unwanted offender is at the same distance. It's the old trick that may have originated from the Gratef. Dead:
put two mics anti-series and only sing into one.

Principle holds as well for putting stuff in parallel, but as shown above already that's less attractive.

If they (GF) had wanted and if it had been physically possible they could have let somebody else sing into the other mic.

Which would then be happening here, if it weren't that a top & btm-mic won't be taped together: two tom-mics anti-series with two wanted sources and a third less wanted one a bit further away.

It won't be possible to have all unwanted sources at equal distance from the two mics of course, so these might give some comb-filtering.
That's justice again, we can't blame Tony here, but who wants to have all these mics on their kit ? OK, tastes differ, let's all enjoy the stuff we like.
