Pultec idea. Is this really stupid? I’m sure it is.

I’ve got one of these really cool looking old General Radio variable inductance bridges. This idea popped in my head, what if you built the surrounding EQP1A amp circuit and wired this thing in and out in where the passive equalizer circuit would normally be? I’m sure there must be a million reasons this wouldn’t work, or would be a bad idea?

What do you think this would achieve? Where would be the input and output?

It’s got 11 of these incredibly well made heavy duty variable attenuators/inductors. I guess in my mind, it seems like there would be a way to incorporate all of these, and be able to boost and attenuate a ton of different frequencies, with adjustable Qs.

Try hooking it up and see?

I once did a continuous-variable-frequency mid boost/cut on a Pultec circuit by just wireing in a variac for the inductor. Sensitive to external magnetic noise, so needed a heavy iron enclosure, but worked quite well..
