I am trying to fix a gt speaker emulator thats not passing audio. The input section has a circuit with two coils ,a choke and capictor. The capacitor is fried and the coils are reading .6 ohms and the choke is reading .8 ohms.

Are these readings abnormal for the choke and coils?

I haven't replaced the cap yet to see if that fixes the problem.

The readings on the choke and coils seem a little low to me.Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Those DC resistance readings are normal for high-power, medium-inductance coils like you'd find in a speaker crossover, or a device like this. Remember, typical speaker AC impedance is 8-16 ohms and DC resistance 6-12 ohms, so the DCR of the coils needs to be a fraction of an ohm to avoid serious losses.

Besides, inductors almost always fail as an open.

Thank you NewYorkDave.

This settles my mind a bit.
Now off to fix this terd. :guinness:
