I noticed several ways of driving the primary of hi-fi transformers: cathode/emitter AC coupled, op-amp single-ended (API/ADM mic pres), differential push-pull (Tube-Tech MP1A) and Lundahl referenced Mixed Feedback, to name a few ...
Aside from signal and loading level differences, I'm wondering if there is one approach that is generally favoured over another on a Transient Response basis ?
I'm trying to understand how to best approach adding DI to my Bass preamp ... I'm thinking of converting the final emitter follower to a cathodyne type circuit and using a separate push-pull drive circuit ... I have 24v of supply headroom, so a cascoded pair would likely fit ... what balanced-input DI transformer is well suited for this ?!
thx!
