Hi!

Can anyone help with info on this mic?
I would like to know specs on the transformer and also does anyone know what T1 is? It looks like a N-JFET but it's not so clear on my schematic.
I've been thinking about trying to build this circuit. Looks like the other transistors are readily available.

Cheers,
Freddy

Not a mic I would go for if it's for vocals. I've tried it out a couple of times and in my humble opinion it's only marginally better than an SM58 (seriously) and easily surpassed by most other LDC mics.

BUT it's great for bass drum and bass cab.

Just in case you were thinking it was almost a "real" U47 and for vocals... It isn't really...

Well, Ok then....I picked the U47 fet simply because I thought it was a kind of iconic, well respected mic. But I'm not bent on it, I just want to try building a nice fet circuit for a LD mic.
Calling Gus! ;)  I wonder if you could point out some circuits that you like and think are do-able from a DIY standpoint.
Thanks in advance,
Freddy

not sure if this can help,
Best,
daN,

Well Luny Tune, I don't agree with you! I have used U47FET microphones in the past and they sounded excellent.
Could it be that you have used and old one, with a polluted diaphragm?
I noticed that when this happens, you a gradually are losing high frequencies.
After cleaning the capsules, they sounded like new again. Sparking bright highs and a full body
