A somewhat similiar case was the Rode NT2, which was verboten in Germany because its grill looked too similar to Neumann's U87. But that legal action helped Rode elsewhere in the world, because everyone now thought the NT2 is an exact copy in all respects including sound. It's great for dealer's to be able to say (in confidence :wink: :wink: :wink: ): "You know, this microphone is illegal in Germany, it's an exact copy of The Neumann. It's a steal! :wink: :wink: :wink:
To be fair, Rode recently discontinued the NT2, and the newer mics don't imitate other designs. B*ringer still play their game.[/i]
