Hello,
my Gemini mic has a very low level noisy output.
I have replaced both valves but there is no improvement.

I rang out the 8-pin cable and noticed that the pin 8 does not seem to be connected.
Should this be the case or could this be the source of the fault?

Thanks in advance.
Ronan.

Which revision of Gemini?
Isn't connected and the wire is freely hanging?
There's is no wire at all?
You know, no one here's is a medium or magician ;)
More informations from your side, more help from the rest.
You can ask se electronics for schematic for self repair.
They should  send it without problem - their servicing policy includes self repairs, especially for older products.

Thanks for your reply.

It is a Gemini Mark 1.

The cable is entirely intact.
I used a meter to check for continuity between all pins and the only one that did not have continuity was pin 8.
All I want to know is if this is how this cable is configured or could this be a potential source of the problem.

I have noticed that one of the valves does not glow and I am wondering if the heater on this valve is not receiving power because of damage to the cable.

I will also contact SE Electronics.

Further info

I have also noticed that one of the valves does not glow and I am wondering if the heater on this valve is not receiving power because of damage to the cable.

The valve is the left valve looking directly at the circuit board (ECC82/12AU7)

Much more likely both tubes have connected heaters to one node inside microphone.
I can be wrong here, that's why it would be great if you will ask for schematic, then would be even better if you could put it to the Technical Documents section ;)
Can you open cable connectors and check?
You can also check is the same pin is connected to anything inside microphone and also inside PSU.
In many chinese microphones there are some unused pins or connected only from one side like in microphone but not in psu.
Measure voltages at the pins of tube sockets. Also i would look there for cold solder joint are not proper contact.
