Wanted to follow up on this topic. I wound up placing a fairly large order with Banzai for a lot of Piher pots in various values. Initially I was fairly satisfied with the look and feel but they turned into a bit of a headache for me. I tried several pairs of log taper pots in some dual channel gear and discovered afterward that matching was very poor between pairs of pots. Unfortunately I learned this well after installing them in a unit that required a lot of disassembly and reassembly.
Bottom line, the tapers were very uneven, outside terminal resistances were very uneven, and used as audio level controls, the wiper levels were very different with the wipers at the same positions. I had ordered quite a lot of them and, with a lot of trial and error was able to pick out a few acceptable pairs. I guess that strictly speaking, they were all within 20%, but many were off "in different directions" within that 20%, meaning that in many cases there were 40% differences. So technically I guess they were within spec, but the general matching was much worse than what I'm used to seeing.
TAW is just down the street from me so I'll give them a try. I've bought a lot of parts from them, but had no idea they sold pots, so I'm glad to learn they might be a source. And thanks to others who replied with other ideas -- you gave me a lot of sources to check out.
Most likely Piher's linear pots are more consistent, and for one-off jobs their log pots might be ok. But I would not order their log types again, and would advise others to be wary of using them.
