I need to use a 1000uF 450V capacitor for a project but they are hard to come by and very expensive. So would it be possible to use two capacitors with half the Farad rating but still at 450V? And if so how would i connect them, in parallel or series?

Yes, you can use two 470µF caps connected in parallel instead of a 1000µF cap.

What do you need the caps for? Are you sure 1 470µF cap isn't enough?

Best regards,

the caps are for mic pre tubes running off of 320VDC. I could probebly use smaller caps but i'm just playing around and I wanted to have a high power reserve. Plus I wanted to know the answer to that question... thanks for the answer!
