Simple pre?

I have a one space 19" rack case
that has 4 nice neutrik xlr's (2 in =, 2 out) mounted on it along with a power cord (it is an old yamaha compressor that I gutted) and 4 volume pots (can be replaced)
Any simple mic pre's I could put in there? I was thinkinking of ss, transformer based...the kits from SCA look interesting but I was unsure about mounting them and the power supply...any thoughts? I could even go point to point or perfboard if I had to...

Yes, get either Fabio?s board or Peter?s Green Pre board (read about getting them in the Black Market forum) and just wire them in. You?ll have to build a power supply too. There?s info on that in the Power Supply META.
