Sorry to post about such a lame subject but I spent over an hour with the search engine to no avail. In the past I've just ripped my IEC inlets out of broken computers and such, but now I need a repeatable and reliable source.

The ideal requirements are:
- male, 3 prong IEC (IEC320, right?)
- panel mounting (screws or snap in)
- voltage selector (2 position would be best since my TX has 115 and 230V primaries)
- built in fuse holder
- fits in 1U rack case

I found nothing on digikey and the cheapest thing at mouser was $10 USD and not even exactly what I wanted. I thought $10 seemed a little steep, especially considering that without the fuse holder and voltage switch the price comes down to $0.75.

What do you all do for AC inlets and fusing? Any advice?

see this http://www.schurterinc.com/products/usa/selectors.asp
I had the same dillema. I got an all in one schurter inlet from Allied with switchable mains but found out it didn't work with series/parallel primary switching. You need a special switch to do this. I called Schurter has it, so I mounted it on top of an IEC built in fuse holder outlet from Mouser. They don't have an "all in one" series/parallel primaryvoltage selector with fuse holder jobbie. If you call Schurter direct they will probably send you samples for free. This goes for a lot of companies, if you call them and say I only need 1 of such and such part #, they will often will send you free samples

If you are using them for DIY audio, just an observation - it may make more sense to use an IEC inlet with a filter module. It is not as convenient as an all in one switch/fuse/selector, but otherwise where are you going to get hash filtering?

I use the Qualtek Electronics Corp part number 755-00/28 in my products.

It has the dual voltage select circuit, a 5 x 20mm fuse, screw mount, and fits easily in a 1U chassis.

I don't think we pay more than $4 for them, but I don't have access to that info right now.

Hey there,
check out Cliff USA. cliffusa.com.
they have a snap in module with fuse holder and voltage selector switch. You can order it in SP DT or DPDT. The only problem is that they don't stock some of their items and they get them from europe somewhere. I did a good amount of research and that is the only company that I saw with fuse holder and switch.

good luck

Gil

Thanks Dan. That would be perfect. Mouser has it non-stock for $2.60 but I can't find it at the other big USA places. Steve Jones bring us a good point which I'd been considering. I may just go the discrete :green: route.

That unit is perfect. I'm going to inquire about prices and shipping. Thanks!

I second the Cliff. Cliff also makes some decent neutrik xlr and 1/4" knockoffs. I like their chrome nose 1/4" jacks that are so often out of stock in the Neutrik variety.
