Every year we have at least one controversial dance off. Part of the reason seems to be the public vote for their favourites rather than for the ones  they think dance better. This means that mediocre or even very poor contestants can stay well beyond the time they should have gone. The result is that you can end up with two really good dancers in the dance off, both of whom should really stay. The really annoying thing about this is in the final where the best dancer rarely if ever wins.

I guess the problem is that is is not really a dancing competition, more a popularity contest. Last year we had some really good female celebrity dancers and one reasonably good guy (a soap actor). He was never in the dance off and we often wondered why. When he won the final, despite the girls putting in much better performances, we decided not to vote anymore and just enjoy the programme for its entertainment value.
