Here´s a bunch of pictures from a racking job I did for a friend. The channelstrips came from an old TAC 16/8 FB monitordesk. It´s completely recapped, got a few modifications at sensitive places and new switches. Both sidepanels and the blue frontpanel are original parts and were cut out of the desk, while the other panels came from Frank (nrg-cnc). Originally the desk came with unbalanced line ins. I changed that to balanced with 8x Lundahl 1540. The original channel outputs fed the Aux busses. That was not appropriate for it´s new use, so I used the Aux 1 pot as output pad (no gain) and a chip as buffer to feed the Stancor output transformers. The mains tranny is installed in an external box to get it´s magnetic field out of the box. I´m feeding 2x18V AC into the rack where it´s regulated with a (silent:arts) PSU board.

Nice job! The desk is also nice am using it often.
I have plans to make something similar but with 8 channel  extension.
Maybe i will stick with preamps only without eq etc.

The racked channels you see here came from the 8 channel extender. My desk was 24 channels.
I´d strongly recommend to keep the EQ. It sounds excellent. It´s more or less the same EQ as used in the Amek Angela desks (which I like a lot, too).

Naah :) I'm not a fan of those eq. Still i have 16 channel console with it (which probably i will sold anyway).
I have 30 modules of audix parametric eq (partially vca based) which sound brilliant, so i don't need Tac eq.
Additional 8 channel preamp will be usefull, and i like it sound :)

Looks fantastic Jens. Finaly those MCI transformers came to use  :). I found a way to mount them without the pcb.
You stripp off the metal jacket. Then it looks much like a normal api transformer, they even fits a Capi preamp board cutout.
Here you can see them in my Nevish sumbox. They do sound great, kind of compressed if you push them hard.
