testing your audio after building

Hi gang,

Just curious...when you've finished your diy :razz:...

How do people test for a frequency repsonse curve and noise floor?

I assume you simply put a 1khz sine wave (with a signal generator) through it and then....a....?

Thanks and sorry if that's cryptic. I basically just want to know what the frequency response of my pre is...how do I test for it?
