I felt it was bait and switch, but the microphone they actually do sell with switches would have been a bargain at $100. And it was easily resolved through Alipay.

Capsule came in the microphone body.
It sounds ok but I’ve never tried anything discriminative. Or pretty.

Here a sE2300 capsule...

(I add a personnal comment : these capsules are not interesting. Like all cheap ones, they are too bright, too "narrow". I don't understand why this manufacturer doesn't make a (small) effort to equip its microphones with decent capsules (e.g. 797audio like Studio Project does). They are shooting themselves in the foot with a product that is nevertheless sold for €330!
On the other hand, the circuit (with output transformer) seems good to me (full CMS). I will try to swap the capsule for one (very) good AliExpress K47 style I've got > I'm sure this mic will be reborn)

EDIT : the Ali capsule screwholes does not fit the sE saddle (will print my onw 3D saddles one of these days...)

Does anyone have any information on these capsules? They are listed on AliExpress as a replacement for the JZ Microphone capsule, and they seem to have copied the Golden Drop design found on JZ microphones, although they appear to be designed differently. They are selling a single and dual design, but the specs on each product are the same. The photos on both product pages all appear to be the same.

The dual product page states that the seller can "Make" a dual-sided capsule. I reached out to the seller for more information, and they sent me two additional photos and extended the offer to attach the extra wires for the dual capsule for me. Could this seller be the manufacturer or assembler and the retail store? I don't know. I asked for a capsule brand/maker, but they have not responded for weeks. No surprise.



I know there is some discussion of the Golden Drop's impact on the capsule performance here on Group DIY, although I can find no testing yet.

This particular JZ emulation could be nothing more than a more expensive but identical capsule to those below but with purple tape, a black ring, and a golden drop-like stamped element on top of the capsule film. Or maybe it's something different/better.


I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback. This is my first post, so please be kind.

It looks like that on a genuine JZ capsule there is an ultra-thin circular layer of gold either on top or bottom of the dots connecting them electrically whereas the Chinese copy have just the dots connected by thin lines on gold. It would be interesting to know the capacitance of the JZ capsule.

The way the Chinese fake JZ capsule connects the drops compared to the way JZ does it with the thin film of gold means a lot more of the structure (plate, I don't know what it is called, help me) is only covered by what? Mylar? Not gold sputtered mylar?

I hoped that someone far more qualified than me would have already purchased either version of this capsule and tried it out in a mic body or two or three. The best I can do now is put it in a KINGKORG-inspired mod of an AKG Perception 400. Once I decide if I'm actually going to buy it, which I'm not sure because there are so many proven capsules available for less, I'll let you know. I would also love to know if anyone has done some comparison testing of a JZ Golden Drop capsule versus some others.

There was only one review on the store page and it only indicated that the capsule was very sensitive.

Does this protrusion of the membrane material have any negative effects?
