Today I had the curiosity to test how the operation of a tube microphone with pure battery supply affects the noise.
1. 4x AA Batt = 6V for heating
effect.. 3 db worse signal-to-noise ratio.. (under load the voltage went up to 5.9 V, this is also due to this..)
2. 13x 9 V block batteries in series = 123 V for V-VB.. Result 1 dB worse signal-to-noise ratio than with the standard PSU .. (China Tube PSU 230 V)..
this for your information.. was an interesting test..
