Look pretty much identical to the MXL2001 - http://cdn.recordinghacks.com/images//mic_extras/mxl/MXL_2001_circuit.jpg

Well, apart from the switchable high-pass :D

I wouldn't be shocked if they came out of the same factory, even :p

Looks like a generic Chinese microphone to me: http://recordinghacks.com/microphones/t.bone/SC-400
(OK, they use  a FET + PNP and a transformer...)

It is indeed a generic Chinese microphone with a transformer. But the price is a little bit cheaper than t.bone for example. I've bought 2 of them for €90, so just €45/piece, for completely new microphones, unopened, with shockmount, and fake leather pouch. So all in all a great deal.

They probably do come from the same factory, and they are probably identical. So indeed ideal as a donor mic for a u87-style microphone as ln76d suggested i guess, based on the "u87 front end mod".

On second thoughts: it looks more like an Apex 430: http://recordinghacks.com/microphones/Apex-Electronics/430

Yeap, it's the same as MXL2001, APEX 430 and many more, but the quality is little bit better.
In this body i also build my S316 tube mike but i changed headbasket for better one ;)
As a donor for anything is pretty great!
