Hi guys,
When I first saw the schematic of the vari mu (with 12AU7 or ECC82) I thought I might give it a try,so I did. There is gain reduction but also a decraese in low end when I increase GR.I'm using very cheap tranies(2?)20K:1K,so the next step was to get me some REAL ones.I orderd OEP A262A6E,but that was a mistake. The sound was even worse than before. What is wrong? Can somebody please explaine?

Which one of the ten million "vari-mu" plans are you looking at?

Have you checked all your parts values? Measured voltages and currents?

StrayCat,
Thanks,but I already did.No answers yet.
PRR,
I used the one you labelt as" DIY 12AU7 compressor"

Cheap may not be a big problem.

20K:1K is not what the plan calls for.

Try the cheap trannies specified (auto-sound ground isolators). Yes, it may cost as much as 10?-20?.
