I know it's cage
Typical farady cage is grounded at least at the surface.
Cables with so-called farady cage are also connected to ground at least at one point.
Or i'm wrong here and my  examples aren't true faraday cage?

The Faraday cage doesn't need to be grounded,  but it is good practice, IMO.

After posting about the heatshrink I realized it could dampen microphonic behavior.

Yes I got your PM. Since they'd be non-standard I'm still thinking about it.

Then with the heatshrink is pretty good idea
