Hi, I have a question: When checking the PSU, everything measures fine apart from the -15v output which only gives me 0v.
(The -12v output gives me 0v as well, but from what I understood this is not a problem.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated  :)

Thanks

Lynn

So, just check the components at -15V part of supply! 7915, related capacitors, etc.

Thanks, it was a faulty 7915 :)

All working soundwise, just the metering not - it's all lit. But will surely find out how to fix this
myself ;)

Sounds wonderful btw!!

Good luck. Check the components at meter board, should be something simple.
Sounds wonderful: already calibrated? ;)

oh well, it did sound nice, but there were some strange behaviours with the ratio control lowering the volume even without any compression going on, the in/out meter being permanently lit, etc.

But now when I returned from
my vacation, the unit stopped passing audio when engaged, so I cannot check what's wrong.
I think I wired some pots (threshold/makeup/mix) the wrong way, but have no idea which ones...
Any idea if a wrongly wired pot could cause the above described problems?

Thanks

Lynn

Probably, you shorted something at PCB. Scope, signal source, trace the signal, when you know when it lost, I will be able to help.

Try to change input balanced line receivers as well and measure DC offsets again.

Ok, I will. Thanks Igor.
Best,

Ben

Hi Igor,

I finally had the opportunity to change those line receivers and it works!!! No "pop" anymore when I engaged/disengaged the compressor. It's just wierd that the 2 have the same problem... Anyway, thank you Igor!!! And once again for those who are still wondering: that's a hell of a compressor! Go for it!!!

Best,

Ben

Hi!
I have finished my mixbuzz some week ago and i can´t understand how i could lived without it before! (sorry, bad english, but you get the message :))
f****** great piece of gear!
My unit worked right from the beginning, no problems! Just fired it up, calibrated it and started working on mixes! But i was very very precise and measured every resistor before i soldered the boards! Thankfully, because one bag of resistors from my mouser order contained the wrong value!!! Better use your DMM  ;)
Thank you Igor for this great piece of DIY-gear!
Chris

Can I order the project on mouser?

https://nl.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=82632283cc

(you can change nl. into fr. for the frenchies =)

Or do I have to import the latest BOM hosted by Igor /downloads section, in mouser.

I can't wait to begin :)

Cheers,

M.

Hi,

I have some problems with the LED meter. All LED's are lightening up if I power up the compressor. Switch IN, OUT and GR has no effect, same with all the trimmer on LED board. All works fine but only the LED Meter not, any ideas?

Thanks
Danny

Hi again, after a LONG pause (due to work load) I finally got around to trying to fix this and it turned out it was the most STUPID newbie mistake ever.
So now it works, and I am positively surprised at how thick and guey it can sound!
I recently sold my Xpressor and working with the Mixbuzz1 I must say, even though the Xpressor was almost as versatile in terms of controls, it was not capable of delivering such "thickness" let alone that typical SSL "snap". So I am VERY happy with this box!

One last problem remains though, the metering is still off - GR-Metering (LED-bar) works just fine, but when choosing in/out metering, all LEDs are lit, even with no signal present.
Maybe the fact that only in/out don't work could help in narrowing down the source of the problem?

I tried adjusting the "Scale" and "Offset" trimpots, but they did not have any effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks  :)

Hi Guys,

Two question here.
Where do I need to connect Link (on the PCB) ?
It's going to the Turbo switch? I don't see anything to connect there except that.

Others question,
I don't find the right 7912 and 7812 in TO-92. There is a problem if I replace it by the same but in TO-220
Or I need TO-92 ?

Thank's !
Jay

Link need connect Turbo switch

Try this 7912 http://ru.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=MC79L12ACLPRvirtualkey59500000virtualkey595-MC79L12ACLPR
and 7812 http://ru.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=UA78L12ACLPvirtualkey59500000virtualkey595-UA78L12ACLP

Hi Guys,

I'm in the calibration process. But Something I don't understand, or it don't work.
If I send a a 1Khzwhen I push the buttonb Comp In how can I have sound a the output? There are no chips except 1 2 & 4 for the input.
So... It's normal? Or not?

And anothers question, wich soft could I use to calibrate it, THD, ....  ? I'm on mac OSX. Or maybe Any plug in for Pro tools?

thank's !
Jay

Hi,

So now I've sound when I push Comp In.
But there is a lost of 30-40db ! is that normal?

And for the moment, the output phase is inverted... Strange..

Thank's

Hi,

Still digging to find the solution of my problem.
Anyone here can help?

Here somepics,

For the first, I sent directly a signal trought the DBX to see if it's working or not.
This is the result.
Blue line is the signal sent and red the output signal.

Is that normal? Except IC1 2 & 4 there are anyothers chips in all the PCB.
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/3640/dbxdirect.jpg

Here, Same thing but with the NE5534
Blue it's signal sent and red signal output.

There is a problem here, right?
But what? any idea?

All value of resistance are correct (I'm using a DBX202c Black) , I've checked more that once.

Thank's,
Jay
