Hello there!

Since starting with DIY this winter, one of the things I have wanted the most to build is a mixer suited to my needs. I have a come up with an idea of a 16-channel fully discrete mixer based off of CAPI`s building blocks, and I wanted to make a post here with my idea to see if I am on a somewhat right path.

My idea is to make a 16-channel mixer in a 4U enclosure, with a fader break-out box.
It will be something of a summing/performance mixer, to make my mixdowns more fun, and to make the mix more alive with the tactility of faders and aux sends to have a dub-style interaction with my hardware effects. All while giving the mix that API-sound  8)

This is the general idea:

6 stereo channels with inserts and 4 aux sends
4 mono channels with inserts and 4 aux sends

Channels based off of the CAPI 2S-LA, summing with the 2ACA/BO.

I`ve made something of a very basic "schematic" of the mono channel:

I was thinking to use these as the aux sends:

And this as a pan pot:

All the separate sends summed to each channel of the 4-INV-ACA

All the outs from the second stage of the 2s-la summed with resistors to the 2aca/bo

I`m thinking the stereo channels would be very similar, just double the 2s-la`s, 2 points on the patchbay and no pan pot.

Am I on the right path?
