I've been looking for Metrix or Fluke on eBay but in France, they are really are to find that auctions always close at a very very high price. And brand new models are too much expensive.

Those Wavetek seem really interesting. But how good are they ? Does anybody know ?
With the money of one brand new Fluke, you could buy something like 3 Waveteks with the same specs. It makes me think twice about buying a Fluke ... :wink:

yo fool!

pickup a fluke 8060A off ebay

they go for around $50

true rms AND has dB function

I've got a Wavetek 27XT, it does capacitance/inductance/frequency/logic and I've banged it around for 5 years no problems, I think I paid $100 , a steal. The replacement for mine is a XT37 I believe and it has true rms for a $100 dollars.

Thanks for your answers guys !

@Scenaria : even those old models are hard to find in France. And when they're available, they're expensive :mad: ... Moreover I don't like that much paying for an product which is abroad (due to postal error and such), I try to stay in France.

But if nothing really comes out in a few weeks, I'll probably take a look to product in USA or UK ... :wink:

@rich : that's interesting. What about precision ?
An other important thing (for me) : what about autonomy ? Right now, Im used to my cheap DMM which tells me I have to change my batteries any time I turn it on ... Measurement aren't completly stupid but depend on batteries power ... So autonomy is quiet important as much as precision (moreover if precision depends on power supply :wink: )

Oops I meant the 37XR which does every thing mine does and more like true rms and more accurate, the only thing is that the 37XR doesn't go quite as high in capacitace values (mine goes 2000uf 37XR I believe only goes 400uf) I'm actually considering buying the 37XR just to have another one. I've gotten quite a bit of use out of mine it's seen its share of travel and I'm careful with nothing. In 5 years I haven't changed the battery once at least I can't remember changing it and it does have a low battery indicator. Here ar the specs and priceshttp://www.tequipment.net/Wavetek37XR.html
