Hey Svart,

I dug this one up searching for some other information.

This looks like a pretty straightforward rebuild.

I think I have one ECM maybe two. I'll have to check again.

Do you still have yours? What do you think about them now?

Cheers,
j

Heya J,

Yeah I still have mine.  I use them off and on.  I really like them for toms more than anything but the bleed from the capsules being omni kinda makes it hard to use them for this.

It's a simple and rather cheap build so I wouldn't hesitate to suggest you simply build one and see how you like them.

Hi,

I've recently purchased a Behringer ECM8000 mic and found this thread.

I'll be doing the mods in this thread with the new PCB, and I took the liberty of slightly revising the PCB posted earlier (I hope you guys don't mind :) ) I added ground planes to both sides of the PCB, fixed the overlay and removed any right angled tracks etc.

Here's the new layout:

It's pretty much ready to be sent to a production house for manufacture, which is what I'll be doing with the one for my mic when we send the next batch of prototype boards off. :)

Ok, I just got a set of these PCB's back, and instead of making just one or two, they made over 20.....  ;D

If anyone wants one, let me know, and for the cost of postage ($5 or whatever via paypal) I'll send one your way.

(sorry for the phone quality pictures).

hey man, I'd take a couple of those if you can spare... been wanting to do a pair of mics... I'll send you a PM

Just PM me if you're interested. I got 20 of these left. :)

There is one tiny modification to do to these boards, nothing major though. You just need to cut the pad from the ground plane as shown in the picture, a scalpel or Dremel etc will do it. Other than that, it's all good.
(I stuffed up the pad spacing for that one bit...)

I'll send two with every request so you have a spare, so get in quick!

I'm just working what capacitors I'm going to use for this, so far I have the following:

47uF, 50v electro, Rubycon YXA series, RS components part no. - 627-0457
220uF, 16v electro, Rubycon YXA series, RS components part no. - 627-0227

What's recommended for the non polarised caps, cost not being an issue? (capacitors are cheap)

I don't know if Marik has been testing various types of caps, but I guess
it's just straight multilayer or decent ceramics for C1, C2 & a Wima for C6, something like this ?

I don't recall it exactly, but ESP Project 93 (from the Oz-part of the Interweb) might have some suggestions.

Bye,

  Peter

BTW, while at it... which taste of 2SK170 ?  GR - BL - V ?  I don't recall having seen a suggested classification.

I'm thinking of using PPS capacitors. They look good on paper, and can be had in 2.5% tolerance if you can find them.

I'm wondering the same re. the 2SK170. Might have to trawl through some data sheets.

Oh, I got 3 sets left. Get in quick!

The first lot will be sent out today.

Have paid so far, yours will be heading off.

I think I used both GR and BL.

We used to be able to get them from Newark here in the states but they no longer stock them.

Looks like mouser can still get the BL part but they don't have any in stock and aren't showing an ETA on their order.

No worries. Yours will be sent out on Monday with the next lot.

I HAVE SOLD OUT! No more left of this batch. If there is sufficient demand, I'll try to organise ver2 of these boards (fixing up that one bit plus a few other tiny aesthetic changes).
I can't say when though, it depends on when work organises more PCB's to be made.

Oh, and for the 2SK170, get in contact with http://www.itekparts.com/ , I'm ordering 8 through them and it's costing me $11.24USD including postage to Australia.
It is the BL version though, will it make that much of a difference? I might ask if they have the GR.

Ok, I've sent the following peoples PCB's off to date.

Arnau

Pirate, I'm waiting on payment for yours.

If I missed anyone, let me know.

Thank you, Jared, for sharing this. And for your kind behaviour. I mean, you found this design on this site, used it for your personnal use, and choosed to share your final work with people here. You could say it's normal, but I also think that everyday, thousands people in the world can use what's done here without giving a **** about even just saying "hi, thanks!".
Well, I don't want to philosophize, and I surely don't feel like if I were one of the ol'guys here but, BTW, I feel I want to say... welcome!
