Just a bump with a question...

I've got the fets, electro caps and resistors sorted, but for the non polarised caps, what do people recommend? I was thinking of using PPS caps, but is there a cap of choice for microphones?

for the .01uf caps just use ceramics.  Those are only for RF filtering.

For the 1uf, I ended up using tantalums for them.

I've recently dug mine back out and have been playing with them.

Try them for room mics and for toms..

;D

The only issue is that they have a fairly high amount of hiss that is a slight problem with weak sources.

Sweet. I'll use the ceramics.

But I thought tantalums were baaad for sound reproduction. In the car audio scene, we always swap them out as they tend to cause the bass to sound 'tubby'. I replaced the ones in my Tru Technology 3-way active crossover with unpolarised Black Gates to good effect. (they were used in the signal path...)

with one cap at such a low level I figure it's not likely to impart it's sound on the audio.  Anyway, if tants were bad then Neve and a number of other vintage audio company's parts are complete crap.  Please turn in all old Neve gear full of tantalums to me for proper disposal.  ;D

I just got a request from a member for the original files, so I'll post the link up here for the benefit of anyone else.

I can't remember what CAD software I used, but if you can't import the files, then copying them from the pictures into KiCAD or whatever wouldn't be too hard.
If the above link ever goes dead, just PM me and I'll refresh it. The files are only 1mb compressed, so I'll never delete them.
