ahe, so really your suggesting that brand to me?

ok

what signifacant thing should th RMS/Multimeter have ...

i'll send the RS back and get something else then....

as long as i don't buy one and find it lacking,i rather not have to buy an item twice over unless it expires on me.

There is nothing wrong with talking about the M stuff as long as you don't do something lame like post a schematic. We talk about all the other companies, right? The main reason the Manival got pissed was that the schematic somebody posted a long time ago was wrong, and also, it is wrong to give away stuff that is copyrighted etc.
Tubes aren't that dangerous. Changing a light bulb while standing on the kitchen counter probably hurts more people every year thay dit tube stuff. Eliminate tube dity and you eliminate half the projects here.
Manley is a cool company because all they do is tube stuff. Their prices are quite reasonable also.
I'm not trying to be the thought police, just trying to keep us out of unnecessary hassle.
sometimes a little hassle is worth it just to let people know you won't be pushed around easily.

nothing wrong with a little discussion and every manufacturer is fair game for critical look across a design regardless of cost/value.

That includes Behringer, Sebatron, Great River or JLMAudio and yes ... even Manley.

You will note that two of my good friends are in the above and if discussion is fair and tamed I'm sure they would chime in with some information and some thoughts to the choices they made.

No one, should be hands off ... by default.

.... am I in trouble again ??
I've only been back for five minutes and I'm at it already ...

correct me if i'm wrong, but i had a brief play with a vobo and to me it seemed just the combination of 2 designs from the past...
will not mention those as i don't want to stick any henhouse...
and sad to say, but in the end i was not so impressed either,
massive pazzive on the other hand is a cool peice of gear! :thumb:

Who are you and what have you done with CJ?

Novice..
For background reading on mic pre (solid state and tube) - have a look at the following..

And the Harvey Gerst big mic pre thread (not as straightforward as the Big Mic Thread)

If you are wanting something esoteric - have a look at the Telefunken V76 mentioned earlier in the thread

but I also understand the desire to keep this forum "off the radar" too...

Thanks for the new sig, Kev. :thumb:

Peace!

Yep, Kev has an important point here. Out of respect for the M*-company, we don't do clones of their products. But surely we'll discuss all aspects of them, if there's anything interesting to be said..

We don't believe in censoring. Just think how it ended in the old place..

I always thought their mixer was kinda bogus, at least from the standpoint of being able to call it a "tube mixer."

"Here's our TUBE mixer! Well, it has a bunch of chips in it, but..."

It would not surpeise me if the Manley Ref C capsule is made by Peluso....
I owned a Ref C for many years, great mic on a lot of stuff, not so great om other. Very good build quailty and shock mount.

"you know that movie Time Bandits, at the end the big ugly evil dude points his long nails at one of the helpless midgets, shoots some evil fire out and turns the poor little guy into a pig? Thats what happens around here when you mention the M word with the exception of course that the scene in time bandits was really funny...

What was the line at the end with the toaster?

"dont touch it, its EEEEEEVIL!" "

i think what people are missing here is the fact that dave made a reference to freakin` TIME BANDITS
