Loading up the looper with drum tracks, some are available in YouTube but some are not.

Any opinions on the best isolation software?

I watched a few comparison videos on YouTube, spectra layers 10 seemed OK , Ripx,

Any free versions out there?

Thanks for any help!

Spectralayers "unmix" tools are very good. I got better results than using RX. But it heavily depends on the source material. So I like to keep both tools at hand...

On several occasions it saved the show because the live engineer got a pretty heavy hand on some synth. While the unmix function can't isolate a synth, it was the only thing left over in the "others" stem. Then I could lower its volume by some 16 dB and that alone did pay for the software (imo).

I'm not aware of any free software around.

Bests,

Thomas

This site is awesome!

You have to pay a few bucks for a song but you can download a custom mix of whatever instruments you want and at what levels from full mute to 100%.

Solved all my problems without buying an expensive software program and spending hours at trying to isolate and mix everything.

I just got off the phone with a good friend who was familiar with this topic. He played with a "classic rock/weekend warrior" cover band. He used the https://www.karaoke-version.com site to help figure out parts for him and the band. Those are well recorded cover tracks.

He says this site is amazing and apparently actually uses AI to extract elements. He's used it for some of the live recordings he recorded of actual performances.

I have always wondered why after 50 years of trying that I could not master the acoustic guitar part in Midnight Rider.

Yesterday I found out why.
There is a Fender Rhoads on that track. It fills in what is left out on the acoustic. I thought that Greg just played the Hammond on that track but no!

Isolate the piano, isolate the acoustic guitar, then play both together, ta da!

I wish I could have used thus program a long long time ago, life would have been so much easier.
