F22 Mic from AliExpress. Is it any good? What is it based on?

I didn't know that 797Audio sells their capsules on Alibaba and their CY001 is an K-47 style (or is it? the listing says both M7 and U47).

You can find it HERE.

I say it's a k67 capsule, found in Behringer, Studio Projects, 797 etc mics.

Didn't expect seeing you here, Mark! Do you know if BFL will eventually sell the V5 K-47 style capsule? Last year when I saw them listing the U87 and U81L I thought they would sell the V47 too.

Have you ever tried one of the RK-47 crappysules from Ali? I guess they're from TZT. I want to wait for the 77jc K-47 to be available again, but I guess we'll never know if they will, as chinese sellers don't answer questions well lol.

Most of the ones I saw just look the same and I don't know much about them. The only two different that I could find is THIS ONE and THIS OTHER ONE

I know you said that most of the ones from Ali could be factory rejects and they have a problem in consistency, but did you buy any of these K-47 ones that sounded ok? As it's my first mod, I'm willing to risk $20 for one and hope being lucky with QC.

BTW: Do you know where JLI got their RK-47? Couldn't find at 797's and AYM's websites.
I had told BFL before that the K-47 style cap in the V5 is pretty good overall and they should sell it, but no idea if they will. Generally, I'm not much of a K-47 guy as much as a K87 type of person, and I haven't really bought any of the Ali K47's, but what I hear in a lot of them is this oddly boosted thing that happens somewhere around 5khz-ish that sounds weird on my voice in particular. I know KingKorg found a really good K47 cheapie on Ali, which I believe was just mentioned in another thread recently, but I haven't tried it.

The urban legend about some (perhaps not most) of the capsules on Ali being QC rejects is something I've heard from a couple of people over the years, but the general consensus was to avoid the cheapest of the cheapies and that the next tier up is worth it. Though it seems like the inconsistent and generally poorly made capsules I've bought were all purchased years ago and with the proliferation of available capsules, it could be that overall QC has improved with time.

The JLI k47 may be from Getwin, which I understand makes some pretty decent stuff. It's possible that the capsule in the V5 is also a Getwin.

I have used the F22 mics from Temu to build a couple pimped Alice mics. I had a couple 67 type capsules from some older swaps that i used in these. The mics as shipped were pretty horrible! Thin sounding 16 mm capsule, a bad hum in one of them etc. The bodies are very heavy and nicely finished tho and it does make for an impressive looking mic. As usual the mic after the rebuild sounds great!
I couldn't imagine using the mic as shipped for anything.

Well, now we know where Telefunken USA get the bodies for their... "Alchemy series", is it?

Hi @micolas ! thanks for your answer...

(btw I didn't yet exchange the SC1100 caps. for Arienne K47 flat because I love the sound you helped me to achieve 😅 ) but I will one of these days and so use one t.bone caps. in my tube mic (6AK5) project.
The 2 SC1100 have a huge output level ! and a rich freq. response from low to high > I love them

Hi Philippe!
I am glad to hear that you are happy with the SC-1100 Emmathom Mod, it's to your credit that you did not give up, persevered, documented yourself, made dozens of attempts, tests, measurements and completely rebuilt the PCB.
I advise you to keep the SC-1100, sounds excellent, and buy another used one at a good price, for the capsule and the rest of the components, body, etc.
If you need a cheap and good capsule, only cardioid with the sound close to that of the 1100, then buy a SC-400 microphone used. I have several of this model, I have used the capsules or various components. Unfortunately, it has a headbasket a bit small for my taste.
