The whole point of NS10's isn't to have great frequency response.

It puts a magnifying lense on the most important part of your mix, the mid-range.

Contrary to internets myth, they can sound quite good with the proper amplification.

It's a very useful tool in the toolbox.

I did address that.

  On the other hand that peak in the midrange makes you be very careful there.

Sometimes people just want something because they see other people with it.  As you said, it is one tool.

So I wasn't planning on buying it from Parts Express since the shipping is way too pricey since I live in Belgium. I'll probably be ordering the components in Holland, which gives me only 8 euro shipping cost as opposed to 63 USD.

Anywayz I was looking at these components :

The drop from 400 V to 250V on the caps doesn't have much difference in price so I figured to get a small overkill there.. (unless it would make the result worse ofcourse? )

Those should do the trick!  The voltage rating will have no effect on the sound.

You've got to buy drivers for your project anyway, buy all the rest pre-made.

I have also been thinking of building a pair of NS10s.

But the most difficult part is building the cabinet it seems.

Does anyone have the exact dimensions of the cabinets (innards and outwards)?

Using the exterior dimensions with 3/4" mdf should get an interior volume that is close enough.  The important part is to make sure that the front baffle is the correct size and the  drivers are in the right place.  Also don't forget that there is a left and a right speaker.  I don't think the original had any bracing inside,(maybe the newer models did) but it probably wouldnt hurt to add a couple.

What would the advantage be of the NS10 design over say, an Auratone?  I would think a pure midrange only speaker like the Auratone would be better at painting a clear picture of the midrange.
