so the diodes protect the output driver chip from overvoltage/dc/+48 'backfeed' on the line output of the dualcomp...

one could forego the $16+ in capacitors and put in $1 worth of diodes in the varimut

and in the dualcomp there are no coupling caps feeding the grids and no diodes--another $16+ saved by jumpering

_am I missing something? is there a high pass designed into the earlier iteration that is not warranted with the diode-string preceding the varimu stage? or has it been determined that the coupling caps are not necessary?

Could go over to ghr.fi and ask in the forum there.

At the time of the Varimu there was talk about ditching the caps on the Varimu under a certain usage scenario, but other than in that it was advised to keep them.

Not sure any dualcomp PCB ever made it out of Finland.
