Another diode bridge compressor

I think we discussed driving the diode ladders differentially above (example: "Siemens U273 [..] albeit with a different bridge arrangement" in #56 (and before).

So, for example, an expensive DRV134 preceded by scale-down buffer, or just an extra cheap transistor for inverting CV, I assume.

And sorry, I had actually posted in the wrong thread. Was referring to "Dual Compressor (diode varimu)" thread, with schematics showing a U3A -- for what I called 'balancing', probably erraneously -- to

"keep the DC voltage at U1 outputs at the same potential as the junction (of the diodes)".

I think that is a different approach (?), maybe even better, as it does not drive the diode ladders differentially, but 'evens out" CV potential directly at the diode/line junction, where it matters more ?

Thread is this:

Can the standalone diode bridge be retrofitted with this DC balancing ? Would different resistor values be needed ?

This question was meant for dual compressor but it also fits the new version of the diode comp.

If different amount of diodes were used, then it might be necessary to change R29/R31 and resistance of the pad before the diodes..

Installed the Monacor LTR-110 today and do not hear a difference either -- but also don't need +20 dBu output level when they start to spit THD.

So now it's one INA followed by a transformer on the output (while the diodecomp32 has two INA stages ).

Sounds cool!
Some kind of imaging thing happening. Can't quite put my finger on it...almost L/R swap ish in places?.Wearing headphones though..
Hi Scott,
Do you still have boards for the Dual Comp, Vari-Mu or Diode Bridge? I'd probably rather build the combined Dual Comp but I'm so excited about these designs that I'd tackle them individually if necessary.
I don't have access to PM yet but can respond if messaged :).
