Hi John,
Not a worry for Apple mac users as far as we know .
The fact that iOS is vulnerable to Pegasus was well known for months .
Its probably no major concern to the ordinary dog in the street in any case .
The people who should be seriously concerned are the politicians , big business people and maybe criminals .
I know a handful of Iphone users and they would have sworn that Apple was by far the best and most secure system on the market , it may well have advantages ,but theres very little fool proof in this world.
Curious that on the coat tails of the Pegasus patch Apple showcased its new product line on the same day .
A recent political scandal here involving an ambasadorial apointment (Catherine Zappone) to the UN , where our minister for foreign affairs suspected his phone was hacked and he felt the need to delete text messages between himself and the Tainiste(second in command politically) relating to the matter . Problem is even if he did delete the texts they could very well have fallen into the wrong hands already , either way their still stored on the network .
This afternoon he faces a motion of no confidence against him tabled by Sinn Fein(Irish republicanism) . Its likely he will survive this vote today.
The many downsides of modern tech and social media are becoming abundently clear to everyone who uses it at this stage, the potential harm to the political and democratic process is only just starting to dawn on them , theres always been a lot of dirt collecting arm twisting ,blackmail and coersion in Irish politics , now instead of people creeping around your back yard with cameras and listening devices , the eavsdropper can be anywhere on the planet .
