There is EF86 / 6CF8 EH, it's EH..Yes,they didn't write what brand NOS is.
I'm asking where you buy this tubes and what brands are ok for 20 euros.
Btw, i got offer for tested Tesla EF86. I will buy them.
If anyone have opinion please write.

No idea if you need many of them for some production or just a few for DIY, but EF86 is not rare on flea-markets.

And (as works for the ECC88 & PCC88) no idea if the PF86 can sub for the EF86. IIRIC they're alike (apart from the heater requirements).

I used to use this place: http://www.watfordvalves.com/products.asp?search=ef86

But now I tend to buy on Evilbay - try searching for the RFT EF86 or Siemens (most likely the same valve).

Some here: http://search.stores.ebay.co.uk/rft-ef86_W0QQcatrefZC6QQflocZ1QQfromZR10QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQftsZ2QQga10244Z10425QQsacatZQ2d1QQsaprchiZQQsaprcloZQQsaslcZ3QQsbrexpZWD1SQQsifZ1QQsofpZ4QQssPageNameZWD1S

Looks like EUR 10,00 will get you a NOS one.

I only need few of them. Two or three are for experimenting, the rest is for my new project, Redd 47.

A few month ago I had a chat with Michael Kaim of BTB about a tube for my G7 and he recomended a Tung-Sol EF806S.
I haven't compared the tube with others, but all I can say I'm very happy with my G7.

You can try a 6SJ7.
I was trying every tube I had for the SE Fender first stage.
The 6SJ7 turned out to be the winner.
Then, three years later, Doc Hoyer tells me it's the same as an EF86!
I always liked the 86 for guitar, so I guess that's what steered me.

Anyway, I knpow nobody will try it, becuase you have to switch
to an octal socket which means a colplete gut job on that stage.
But if you are set up for it, then you can plug and play 10 dollar
6SJ7's all day long til you get the sound.
Afer all. if you dicsount caps and resistiors, theonly thing left to
shape the sound is the iron and the tube you choose.

You get a built in shield with the metal sj7.
don't forget to ground it.
