To keep you all updated. The layout is ready for prototyping and I will be ordering one sometimes in October.

I'll keep you posted of further progress. Thanks to everyone for the continued support and encouragement.
Some days I didn't think I'd get this far!

Thanks for the heads up, Jim. This is one major project and i'm really looking forward to it. I can't wait to do these!

By the way, I don't know if this has been addressed or not, but does this project still require EZ1290? So it's one PCB for the EZ and 1 or more PCBs for 1084 EQ?

I'm bumping this question because it's a goodun

ive been returning to this thread from time to time but admit i have not read it all so if this has been answered i apoligize. can this EQ be used indendently of the EZ1290. i'm looking for an EQ build to do and the EZ1290 is on my to do list but that list can go on for years. is there a line up thread  somewhere that i missed??  thanks

I guess this thread is getting long enough that no one wants to go back and read all the previous messages. I understand so don't worry about asking again.

This 1084EQ is a line only version.

No other board is required. Essentially its a 1084 minus mike preamp.

If you want a mike preamp then yes, Madriaanse has stated he will provide a mike preamp portion pcb add on. Once I get the prototype going I'll be able to get a prototype from him to test and we can move on from there. There are provisions on my PCB so that you will only connect a few wires to make it all work seamlessly.

If you already have an EZ1290 you can always "patch in" to it.

Of course you can also just connect any mike preamp's line out into this 1084EQ.

I seldom (actually never) EQ on tracking. I only use EQ on mixdown. To me the 1084EQ is a broad EQ covering so many bands that its overkill on tracking. But to each his own, hence the possibility of making this into a full 1084 came to be.

Looking forward to first glimpse of your 1084!
A 1 ru version of this will surely be a very big deal.

I must say I wasn't much of a tracking eq guy until I started using a chineve 81 eq.
All the EQ changes sound so usable that now I eq on the way to tape and not on monitor return.

It's hard to know which 'better' setting is 'best'.

Anyway, a couple of these will rock. :D

The layout is designed for Grayhill. If you want you can use Lorlins for all but the LP filter. Not as pretty as Grayhills.

This is a full 1084 EQ without the mike preamp. The concept was to stick to as original as possible with options to make it cheaper by leaving out some sections. So if you do not need the mike preamp you don't include that option, don't want a LP filter? Leave it out. Don't want a HP filter? Leave it out.

I'd leave the HP filter at least as its really useful.

There is also a drilled and silkscreened 1RU case in the works for this project.
