eyelet board has never been soldered on except for a newer OPT that has been installed,

sounds killer, especially when maxed out!

these things can go for as much as $10,000 so i am not going to do anything to it but bolt the eyelet board down which had come loose and was the source of the popping noise,

to change the caps or plate resistors would be to ruin the resale value,
as would be to snip the "death cap,"

this amp has not been played much, the 100 K carbon comp resistors measured....100 K!

this is the neat part, this 5F2 circuit seems to be a variant of the schematics you see in the books as far as the power supply is concerned, no choke, screen comes off a 10 K resistor,

volume pot is 1 meg linear so you crunch out in a hurry,

i measured the voltages while the amp was plugged into a variac set at 110 V-ac like the old days,

Perfect!👍 That seems to be the layout, right? Which manufacturer is the square 0.005uF capacitor between the pots?

Edit: first PSU cap in your amp is a 16uF...

Wow, still another variant, looks like a choke model, thanks!

I might have mis-spoke,

the cap between the pots is a Cornel Dublier Mica with the color dots, marked Type 5 USA

the .05 caps are the yellow Astron,

ok, fixed the cap type on the schemo

The leather handle looks a bit too new for the age of the amp IMHO. It was probably replaced. Edit: You've already written that, it's a bit late here. 😅
