Hi all…

I just ran out of one leader shielded cable and I can't find a decent on the internet. I have checked elfa.se, mouser and a lot of obscure far away places but mostly it is guitar cables or multi leader coaxial cables.

Anyone that have a tip on where I can find one to buy … preferably within the EU.

Regards

/John

For what purpose and how thick? High heat resistance would imply Teflon, though I don't know any shielded ones off hand.

For studio interconnects I just use Mogami 2549 for most everything, you can wire it unbalanced if need be. The spiral shield is easier to work with which saves time .

Thank you sir

I think 6mm would be too thick for installation work inside amps and what not… I have tried guitar cables before but they are thick. I need a 3-4mm max.

I have been searching long for a good shielded cable to use when needed. I just found a "Belden" with two leaders, aluminum tape and a naked third leader for grounding. As you suggest a heat tolerant cable would be fine and this one is. I have tried teflon clad wires before but they are so stiff that they are impractical to use for dressing.

Belden makes a shielded cable with solid leaders which tend to break when you want it the least so this "new" one is nice.

I use Mogami 2944 "console wire" for internal, think it's 2.5mm.  Kind of depends what brands you can get, Belden, Canare,  Gotham, Gepco should have similar.

Inside amps I've also used George L pedal board cable for shielded single ended connections. Not as flexible but really available in lots of music stores.

I like Gotham cable. The shielding is really good. They make installation type twisted pair. Flexible without a thick jacket.

I also use a lot of Mogami. Mogami is easier to find here. They have a "console wire" that is very small in diameter. The paired cable is also usually narrower in diameter than other brands. I can easily get 2pr into a XLR-5.

I've been using leftover multicore cable, the one you'd run to a stagebox.
Works ok, not the most pro solution though.
This one works out ~0.75e /m of installation cable https://www.thomann.de/fi/sommer_cable_quantum_highflex_multipair_4.htm

For guitar type cable I like RG58 video cable. You can get it with  a stranded center conductor. It's thin and flexible. Has good shielding and is not sold as fancy cable.
